A Little Bit of History
Patrick
Hoban is the founder and pastor of Church in the
Word. In April 1987 Pastor Hoban, a native of
Ireland, was dramatically delivered from a five-year drug addiction and self-destructive lifestyle
when he received Jesus Christ as his personal
Lord and Savior. This occurred during a
Full Gospel Business Men's meeting in his hometown
of Waterford, Ireland.
His
first experiences with the workings of the Holy
Spirit were with the Full Gospel Business Men.
Shortly after his salvation he traveled giving
his testimony. Soon, his gift for preaching and
teaching became evident. The gifts of the Spirit
began to manifest, especially the word of knowledge
and the discerning of spirits. Salvation and the
baptism in the Holy Spirit became the main focus
of his altar ministry.
He
first came to the U.S. in 1994 for a s eason of
ministry. Back at home in Ireland in 1997, after
a period of prayer, God gave Patrick a dream in
which he saw two giant-sized golden bells. The
golden bells represented his ministry in Ireland
and the U.S. The larger bell referred to ministry
in the U.S. God showed him that if he returned,
he would reach more people. Upon returning, Patrick
ministered throughout the United States for two
years, during which time he met and married his wife Tami. Together they founded Church in the Word in September of
2000.
God often uses him in the word
of knowledge, prophecy, and discerning of spirits. Countless
have testified of the astounding accuracy of the prophetic
word and word of knowledge in which he operates.
Patrick and Tami reside in Cary, Illinois, with their three children, Liam, Sean and Niamh (Neve).
