SMALL GROUPS

Most of the Church in the Word Small Groups meet here at 430 Airport Road in Elgin, Illinois, on Wednesday evenings. We have additional small groups that made different days, times, and locations at homes throughout our community. See below for all of the details for the current session.

Current Small Groups

Thursday Ladies Bible Study: Ephesians Led by Mardi Gruver
Tuesdays 9 - 11AM starting February 9
Join us for fellowship, a light breakfast and discussion of the book of Ephesians. There will also be a time of praying for each other and sharing how the Lord answers prayer. Childcare is provided.

Covenant Marriage Led by Shaun and Annemarie McGuire
Wednesdays 7:00 - 8:30 PM starting Feb. 8
God wants your marriage to thrive and produce good fruit in your life and in the lives of those around you. This seven week class is for couples as well as singles and will take an in-depth look at what the Bible has to say about doing marriage God's way so that you can build a fruitful marriage that will stand the test of time. Topics covered will include building a solid foundation, getting God's vision for your family, staying out of strife, having successful communication, handling your finances together and strengthening intimacy.

Be Transformed Led by Paul DeLaughter
Wednesdays 7:00 - 8:30 PM starting Feb. 8
Scripture promises that God is "working all things together for the good of those who love Him, and are called according to His purpose." What does this look like in our everyday lives? Be Transformed will look at Scripture to study how God is using our various experiences, positions, possessions, emotions and more to transform us into the image of Jesus Christ. Teaching and interactive discussion will combine to help us benefit from a greater understanding of this transformation process.

Men's Tuesday Bible Study
1st & 3rd Tuesday 7:00 - 8:30 PM starting Feb. 8
This group meets the first and third Tuesday every month from 7:00 - 8:30 PM. This is not your typical Bible study as men come together to have deep, verse-by-verse study and discussion on the book of Hebrews.

Growth Track

God has an incredible purpose for your life, and the Growth Track is designed to help you connect with that purpose. On the Growth Track, you will go through four steps diving into what it looks like to follow Jesus, connect to the church, discover your purpose and then make a difference with your life and develop a plan for continued spiritual growth. Ready to grow?

Step 1: Essentials
Sunday, March 5, 8:00 - 9:15 AM
This step will help guide you through the essential habits that every believer needs to develop to become a fully-devoted follower of Christ.

Step 2: Community
Sunday, March 12, 8:00 - 9:15 AM
This step will give you an introduction to the mission, vision, values and structure of Church in the Word as well as provide a Biblical understanding of the importance of community and your role in it.

Step 3: Discovery
Sunday, March 19, 8:00 - 9:15 AM
God created you uniquely and this step will help you understand the role of the Holy Spirit in fulfilling your purpose and discover the unique gifts God has given you to use to serve others.

Step 4: Direction
Sunday, March 26, 8:00 - 9:15 AM
This step will help you assess your current spiritual health and develop your personal plan for consistent spiritual growth, as well as connect you with a ministry team where you can use your spiritual gifts.

Get More Out of Your Bible Study

Most of our congregation is regularly involved in Small Groups. We love to encourage people to join a class each session because sometimes we all need a little help getting into the word of God and/or applying it to our lives. Joining a Small Group will deepen your spiritual journey by providing structure, accountability, and good teaching.

Get More Out of Your Church Community

The Church is called to be a community of believers, and there is no better way to make friends and meet people than over food and/or drink and the Word.
